Appetizing Chili Con Carne
Recipe
This classic and healthy Chili Con Carne is an
easy-to-prepare dish packed with authentic flaming flavors. It is well known in
American households as 'Chili', a spicy stew recipe consisting of meat (usually
beef), chili peppers, tomatoes and beans.
This scrumptious recipe is seasoned with garlic,
onions, and cumin. 'Chili' is a favorite dish for cooking
competitions, special occasions and even for simple family gathering.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp oil
1 red pepper
400g can chopped tomatoes
1 large onion
1 heaped tsp hot chilli powder
1 tsp ground cumin
500g lean minced beef
1 beef stock cube
½ tsp dried marjoram
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp tomato purée
410g can red kidney beans
plain boiled long grain rice, to serve
soured cream, to serve
Directions:
Prepare vegetables. Chop 1 large onion into small
dice, about 5mm square, Cut 1 red pepper in half lengthways then chop. Finely
chop 2 garlic cloves.
Put your cooking pan over a medium heat. Add the cooking oil, onions, while stirring constantly,
Tip in the garlic, red pepper, hot chilli powder, paprika and ground cumin.
Stir then leave it for another 5 minutes while stirring occasionally.
Sautee lean minced beef until brown. Add the meat
to the pan while continuously sautéing the meat until brown.
Prepare the sauce. Dilute 1 beef stock cube into
300ml hot water. Add the diluted mixture to the pan with the mince mixture. Add
chopped tomatoes, dried marjoram, sugar, salt and pepper to taste and tomato
purée.
Continuously simmer it for 20 minutes. Add
the red kidney beans in the chilli pot until simmering. Serve with soured cream
and plain boiled long grain rice.
